Cooperation between the Ministry of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure and the French Development Agency (AFD).

 The French Development Agency (AFD), a development partner at the side Cameroon’s Government for a long time now, is committed to eradicate floods in the major cities of Yaoundé and Douala.  Funds for this purpose are available.  The announcement was made this Friday 8 June 2024 during a public audience granted to the Head of the delegation and the delegation accompanying her by the Minister of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure in the conference room of Ministerial Building No. 2 hosting MINDCAF’s services.

The Minister of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure Henri EYEBE AYISSI today received in audience a strong delegation from the French Development Agency led by Madam Cléo LOSSOUARN, Regional Coordinator of the water and sanitation project team, based at the French Development Agency in Brazzaville, accompanied by Mr. Sylvestre MANG, Deputy Director of the AFD in Yaounde, Mr. François LOMME, Chargé de missions, and Mr. Daniel Ndo Tolo, Chargé de missions, all from the Yaounde Branch.

During their discussions, the Minister of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure, assisted by high-ranking officials of his Ministry and his guest have discussed at length about issues related to floods as well as their direct and indirect consequences, including care to victims, their expropriation/resettlement, institutional support.    Both parties have also discussed long term solutions, particularly the urgent clean-up of the big cities of Douala and Yaounde and further, control over land tenure.  The project will receive a budgetary allocation of 150 million Euros, or CFAF 98 400 000 000 that is already available, according to Madam Cléo LOSSOUARN.

At the end of their discussions, both parties hailed the fruitful cooperation between the two Institutions, that portrays the excellent friendly relationship between Cameroon and France.
