LAND MANAGEMENT

Minister Henri Eyebe Ayissi Involves Traditional Rulers

A joint workshop held on 24 and 25 June at the Star Land Hotel Bastos, with strategic partners such as GIZ/ProPFR and the United Nations in attendance.

Determined to modernise the approach to land management issues in Cameroon, Minister Henri Eyebe Ayissi, in accordance with the guidelines of the Head of State, His Excellency Paul Biya, has brought traditional rulers on board with a view to easing the ever-increasing tensions in our localities. ‘‘The signing of Circular Letter No.0003/Mindcaf/Cab/Lc of 2 April 2025 to institute a no-objection letter from the 1st and 2nd class head of traditional command unit, gives these chiefs full power in the procedure for direct registration or grant of parcels of national land for surface areas less than or equal to 20 hectares,” the minister explained.

The purpose of this workshop was therefore to lay down conditions for implementing the provisions of circular letters signed by the Minister on 2 April 2025. This is to enable 1st and 2nd class traditional rulers to play their role in ensuring smooth land management in the customary communities under their responsibility.
