LAND REFORM IN CAMEROON : THE WEST AND NORTH WEST REGIONS TAKE PART IN DELIBERATIONS

On Thursday 28, 2025, and, as from 9:00am, the representative of the Governor of the West region, chaired the opening ceremony of the Inter-regional consultation workshop for the North West and, West regions. This workshop is part of the process of developing the National Policy Document on State Property and Land Tenure. It includes the aspirations of local populations taking into account the specific characteristics of the regions consulted.

Organised over two days at the premises of the Governors office in Baffousam, the workshop was aimed at ensuring a participatory and inclusive process in drafting the future document, involving all stakeholders concerned with land governance from the North West and West regions of Cameroon.

Moreso, the opening ceremony brought together dignitaries including : administrative authorities, traditional rulers, representatives of decentralized local authorities and members of civil society organizations among others.

 Considering the fact that this land reform was launched by President Paul Biya in 2011, the necessity for land reform in Cameroon can not be over emphasized.
